Fans of wrapped meats and vegetables can rejoice.

Celebrating its seventh anniversary, Pita Pit is offering free breakfast pitas from 5-9 a.m. at its downtown Coeur d'Alene location today, and selling its other pitas at a discounted $3.99 until 10 p.m. at restaurants in Coeur d'Alene, Sandpoint and Spokane.

The downtown restaurant is also raffling off a Schwinn bike, with proceeds going to Dine Out No Kid Hungry.

Pita Pit locations looking back on seven years of service include the restaurants in downtown Coeur d'Alene, Hayden, Post Falls, Moscow, Pullman, Sandpoint, Spokane Valley, downtown Spokane, Gonzaga and 5 Mile.

"Over the past seven years, we've kind of fought it out as the economy has been rough on a lot of small businesses," said Charlie Linder, co-founder of Pita Pit USA. "We've continued to experience growth and success, despite all the challenges."

He noted Pita Pit USA is headquartered in Coeur d'Alene. The Lake City restaurant is also the national training center for franchise owners.

Pita Pit has nearly 200 locations in 43 states.

"We want to take a step back and thank all of our guests for the support that we have received over the years," said Peter Riggs, vice president of brand development.
