Firefighters make progress on Colo., NM wildfires

LOVELAND, Colo. (AP) — Authorities say they're making some progress on a northern Colorado wildfire blamed for one death.

The Larimer County sheriff's office said Tuesday that there is some containment but didn't release an exact figure.

On Monday, fire crews backed by air support were able to anchor one corner of the fire and start building containment lines by hand. Despite that, the fire still grew to 68 square miles, a 4 square mile increase.

A 54-square-mile fire burning in southern New Mexico is now 30 percent contained after firefighters took advantage of a break in hot, windy weather to build lines on Monday.
