CATS: A better feline solution

| June 8, 2012 9:00 PM

This letter is in response to Roxann’s letter about the cats. I sympathize with you, but for different reasons. I too, had a cat situation at my last home. I have written before regarding this “problem.” There were more than two dozen abandoned/ feral cats where I lived, all due to humans.

Do people think these cats just sprout up like a weed? It is ONLY because of irresponsible, cruel, ignorant people. They dump their cats when they don’t want them anymore. They don’t spay/neuter their cats, and they allow them to roam wild. I am FED up with you lazy, ignorant people who do this! Your “problem” is now solved, but at the expense of the cats, and people like Roxann and me.

The fighting is because none of them are neutered. After I trapped/neutered/released TWO dozen of my neighbors’ “mousers,” the fighting dropped at least 80 percent. The spraying also ended. I am sorry, I have no advice for the “smelly” things in the yards, as they don’t have toilets to sit on and flush. If their owners were responsible they’d be at home using a litterbox.

I NEVER had scratches on my cars, but I did have lots of little pawprints on it from them walking on it. No harm done. A word of advice, with all of the cars being stolen, and broken into, the cats would be the last reason I’d complain about having to roll up my windows and lock the doors.

What is wrong with you people who think it’s OK to abandon an animal? What if these were all dogs that people were dumping all around town? Bet things would be different. I don’t have enough allotted word count to say everything I’d like, but those cats did nothing to deserve or cause this. It is all on the human population.

To the “pigs” on The Press’ board, you all DISGUST me! Big, bad “men “going around shooting and killing hundreds of cats, then bragging about it like they were mighty, mighty hunters. Go check it out Roxann, is that the way you’d like it handled? If so, then I pity you. Contrary to what those ignorant murderers think, T/N/R DOES work. I know. I did it successfully with no new kittens for the last two years I was there. The dominant males always chased away a newcomer from their territory. My “problem” was contained, and I am proof it works.
