Library parking now two hours
COEUR d'ALENE - Free all-day parking at the Coeur d'Alene Public Library will be no longer.
The Coeur d'Alene City Council agreed Tuesday night to put a two-hour time limit for cars parking at the library's parking lot.
Enforcement will be managed through Diamond Parking, which monitors the city's other downtown parking spots.
The change was made, at the request of its parking commission and supported by the library board of directors, to keep the lot primarily for library patrons.
The time limit used to be on a voluntary basis, and library staff said people would take advantage of the lot that wasn't monitored as a way to park their cars free all day.
The lot, which sits at the corner of Seventh Street and Mullan Avenue near City Hall, would also be used in the event parking for a fee the city offers during special events. For people attending some of the longer meetings in the library's Community Room, arrangements will be made so they will not be ticketed.
