Chester Junior Hattenburg, 81

Chester Junior Hattenburg passed into the hands of the Lord May 29, 2012. Chester was born Jan. 22, 1931, to Chester Harley and Velma Hattenburg of Twin Lakes. He was a lifelong resident of the Coeur d’Alene area.

He graduated from Rathdrum High School in 1948 at the age of 17 and the Kinman Business University in 1951. He married the love of his life, Georgia, in 1953. They were married 59 years. He was an active member of the community as a volunteer and businessman. He owned and operated Hayden Lake Welding in the 1960s and 1970s. He served on the Hayden City Council, was mayor of the city of Hayden in 1975 and 1976, and was a Hayden Volunteer Fireman for many years. He had a successful 25-year second career as a commercial Realtor in Coeur d’Alene.

His passions were his family and the love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, traveling in his motor home, and spending time with his friends, children and grandchildren. He and Georgia spent more than 30 years at their winter home in Kino Bay, Mexico, on the Sea of Cortez.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Schneberger Hattenburg; his brother, Harley John Hattenburg and Linda Hattenburg of Kingston; sister Renabel Hattenburg Hawley and Richard Hawley of Post Falls; son Randy Hattenburg and wife Bonnie of Hayden; son Scott Hattenburg and wife Penny of Chugiak, Alaska; son Russ Hattenburg and wife Carmen of Palmer, Alaska; grandchildren, Dustin, Bryce, Brenna and Shelby Hattenburg of Alaska, Sara Hattenburg of Hayden, Kylie Hattenburg Dupont and husband Jon of Coeur d’Alene; and great-grandchild, Cameryn Hale of Hayden.

His love of family, generosity and kind heart will be missed by all those he has touched over the years.
