No surprise: Boise State picked to win Mountain West

LAS VEGAS - Boise State was picked by the media as the overwhelming favorite to win the Mountain West Conference title.

Journalists who cover the league gave the Broncos 27 out of a possible 30 first-place votes.

It's the fifth straight season Boise State has been favored to win its conference. This will be the second and last year for the Broncos in the Mountain West in football. The Broncos will join the Big East Conference for the 2013 season.

The media poll projects Nevada to finish second, followed by Fresno State, Wyoming, San Diego State, Air Force, Hawaii, Colorado State, UNLV and New Mexico.

Boise State finished second in the Mountain West last season. TCU won the league title after beating the Broncos in Boise in November.
