Fernan Lake is again safe for fishing and swimming.

A July 11 health advisory warning residents to avoid aquatic recreation at Fernan Lake has been lifted, reports the Panhandle Health District.

The health district and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality issued the advisory due to the presence of high concentrations of blue-green algae that can produce harmful toxins to humans and animals.

Officials from Idaho Department of Environmental Quality have been monitoring the lake since the advisory was issued and they now confirm the concentration of the blue-green algae in Fernan Lake is no longer a concern.
