SCHOOLS: Bond first, dress later

| July 14, 2012 9:15 PM

Mr. Purtee, I beg of you to stay focused on the upcoming bond election for the school district. Please don’t dilute the work that is being done within our community by introducing a mandatory dress code for the district. There are studies that show dress has an impact on schools and particularly inner city school such as Philadelphia however, Coeur d’Alene does not have those same issues. Our issue is health and safety for our children in the buildings.

We have to get this one right, Mr. Purtee. We first have to have the foundation for learning. Once the bond passes and we bring our children into modern-day workings, then let’s talk about whatever else we need to for advancing further. We need the whole community focused on voting and voting “yes” for the bond in August.

I am disappointed in your opportunistic tactics to push your personal agenda. I have four children in the district and do not appreciate someone who does not have children in the district coming in and trying to negate what the current system is doing and trying to change it. Please, until you are voted in by the voters, stick with working to get the money we need to update our schools.
