PRIVILEGE: How far can it go?
Is this “Executive Privilege” that Mrs. Sholeh Patrick mentions in her article a “Privilege” or as she says a “Tradition?” I am sure that what Mr. Holder, under the Congressional subpoena, would have to produce would affect the 2012 election, the president, Mr. Holder himself, and who knows how many in the trickle down. She must be very proud of her president since he has invoked the “Privilege” for the first time — closing in on the end of his fourth year in office. Comparing the now president with President Bush — give me a break.
She mentioned that the subpoena was for an internal memo regarding a failed law enforcement operation. What Mrs. Patrick failed to mention was: the illegal Federal purchase of more than 2,000 guns that were mostly semi-automatic weapons, and were given over into the hands of drug cartels in Mexico. This action has been termed “Fast And Furious” and these guns have been involved in hundreds of homicides on the Mexican side, and one (that I know of) U.S. Border Patrol Officer killed by one of these guns during a shootout on this side of the border.
Very few guns have been recovered. So the actions of the Federal Government will allow for more lives to be lost. The Congress is not looking for a lie — they already know that they have been given false documents on “Fast and Furious” from the Justice Department. They want to find out who started the Federal criminal actions and how far up the chain it goes. The Watergate case was mentioned — this being a criminal case of breaking and entering (burglary). How many guns have to be obtained illegally, transported across state borders illegally, taken across the Mexican border illegally — not to mention the many lives that have been lost — does it take to equal a break in.
OOPS! That’s right — Attorney General Eric Holder is in charge of the Justice Department. I guess that makes it all right for them — BUT NOT IN MY BOOK!
