AMERICANS: Take care of own business

| January 8, 2012 8:00 PM

I am having trouble writing this letter because of the wool that has been pulled over my eyes for the past 54 years.

We as Americans have been led to believe that we engage in war with various Middle Eastern countries for humanitarian reasons, or to destroy factories that produce weapons of mass destruction. We all know that OIL is the only reason we are interested in the Middle East! It helps us sleep at night believing what we are told by our "leaders."

If this is true though, why are we not at war in Sierra Leone, Libya, or any other country with a reputation for mistreating its citizens? Because we don't need diamonds, and we do need friends in the Middle East to assist in our cause!

I am further infuriated by the fact that we are spending billions of dollars a year fighting for our oil rights, and losing precious American lives when we are EXPORTING DOMESTIC OIL!

GREED... Domestic oil companies can get more money for their oil overseas! I believe our country should use some of those war dollars to subsidize domestic oil companies, research alternative fuels and protect our own borders.

Ask any family who has lost a loved one in this fight if they think oil is worth their son's or daughter's lives. I think they will all agree we should stay out of foreign oil, keep our kids safe and learn how to take care of business right here at home!
