USDA FOREST SERVICE NORTHERN REGION OPPORTUNITY TO COMMENT DRAFT LAND MANAGEMENT PLAN AND DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT FOR THE IDAHO PANHANDLE NATIONAL FORESTS The Forest Service, Idaho Panhandle National Forests, has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and a Draft Land Management Plan (Draft Plan). The preferred alternative is Alternative B. The Draft Plan guides management on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests over the next 10 to 15 years and provides management direction in the form of goals, desired conditions, objectives, standards, guidelines, suitability determinations, and monitoring. It also makes new special area recommendations for portions of the forest, such as recommended wilderness and research natural areas. The DEIS and Draft Plan are available on the forest website at: http://www.fs.fed.us/kipz .
