ARE NOT THE MOUNTAINS, STREAMS AND TREES AS MUCH A PART OF ME AND MY SOUL AS I OF THEM...

Our much loved Charlie, husband, father, brother, uncle, friend left his earthly home for the forests and streams of heaven on Feb. 16, 2012, at Hospice House in Hayden. After a brave struggle with cancer and other health related issues he leaves behind his "Little Bride" Sandy; daughter Suzzi; son Buz; sister Marcia Snyder of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother Bill Rogers of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He also leaves behind his dogs, Moose, Pasha and Kirby that he so loved to spend time with.

Charlie was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he also graduated from high school. He helped make the ski slopes in Lake Tahoe and Aspen in the summers of his high school years and fell in love with the mountains and trees of the west. He served two years in the Navy in Florida at the end of World War II and loved working on the F4U Corsair planes. He then moved to Missoula, Mont., and graduated from the University of Montana with a forestry degree. He worked for the forest service there and moved on to Coeur d'Alene where he worked in the timber industry for several companies and retired from Idaho Forest Industries. He always loved his work, fellow foresters and especially his loggers whom he called the "salt of the earth." He always had a dog in the truck with him.

Charlie was the love of Sandy's life and she of his. They spent 39 years together having lots of fun. He also loved fishing, hunting and especially making firewood. He so hoped to make more wood in the spring if God would allow. He was very fond of the Bob Marshall Wilderness in Montana which he knew so well and wishes his ashes to be taken there.

The family "THANKS" Dr. Bob McFarland and Dr. McLandress, for their great compassion and care, the Hospice House and the many other health professionals that looked after Charlie. They also thank all who visited him and prayed so diligently for his recovery. When God saw that one was not to be had he took Charlie from his pain and welcomed him to his heavenly home.

At his request there will not be a funeral but a Celebration of his life at a later date. If anyone would like to make a donation in his name we suggest Hospice House of Hayden or the Kootenai Humane Society. Please leave a story or memorial at www.belltowerfuneralhome.com.
