EVENT: Riding for Rover thanks Peak Health

It is so nice to have community leaders stand up and give back to the nonprofits in their area.

Heath from Peak Health and Wellness Center is one of those leaders that we would like to thank and recognize for putting together and leading the way with our Riding for Rover event. Through his hard work and dedication Peak Health and Wellness Center worked to help our animals find their furrever homes. We were able to raise $5,000 and have a good time in the process.

Thank you to all that participated and believed in giving back to our community animals. You truly are appreciated.

From the bottom of our paws we thank you for caring.

PLAZA: Staff possesses competent, loving hands

On behalf of the David B. Simon family, I would like to thank all those who made my father's life so wonderful during his last days before his death on Jan. 17. He had been a resident of Garden Plaza in Post Falls for the year before his death. We cannot thank the staff there enough for the excellent care he received and the love he felt from all those who assisted him through the difficult last months of his life.

One would think that the best thing about his experience would be Garden Plaza's luxurious accommodations and the gourmet food, but they would be wrong. The best part is the genuine love that the staff has for their tenants. We could leave our dad there knowing that he was in competent and loving hands of the caregivers and committed medical personnel. The family was always warmly welcomed and we made many friends among the staff and wonderful tenants alike.

Our love goes to Dr. Neil Nemec, dad's longtime physician, whose kind and loving manner was appreciated by dad as well as the family. Thanks too, goes to Dr. McFarland, who assisted us in Dr. Nemec's absence the last few days of our dad's life. Both represent their profession very well, evidenced by their vast medical knowledge and their old-fashioned kindness.

And lastly, thanks to all of our friends, who supported us so lovingly during this difficult time.

ROTARY: Great fundraising effort for rest benches

The Board of Directors, staff and residents of Coeur d'Alene Homes would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Rotary Club of Coeur d'Alene. Through their amazing fundraising efforts, we received a grant in the amount of $1,840 to purchase rest benches for our Memory Care residents.

The benches are part of our Memory Care Fall Prevention Project. Each of the rest benches are placed along the hallways in our Memory Care Unit to ensure that our residents are able to rest if they become fatigued from walking. Injury falls are a tremendous financial burden to our residents, families and health-care system. Reducing falls benefits our whole community!

Coeur d'Alene Homes is the only nonprofit facility of its kind in Kootenai County and we depend on grants like this to fulfill our mission of providing a faith-based home for older adults. Thank you Coeur d'Alene Rotary, for helping us in our mission!
