Post Falls wants to hear from residents, recreation groups and others about what they would like the city's parks and recreation future to look like.

GreenPlay, LLC, has been hired as a consultant to develop the city's parks and recreation master plan.

The firm will make a presentation at a public input meeting starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 408 N. Spokane St.

Comment on topics, including values and vision, parks, recreation trails and programs and open space, will be sought at different stations. The meeting runs until 8 p.m.

Dave Fair, Post Falls' parks and recreation director, said there will be other public input meetings, but this is a critical one because it starts the planning process.

"Much of the plan will be based on this meeting," he said. "We want any feedback that we can look at as a way to improve our service."

The plan will be a broad overview of what is desired, including more neighborhood parks and amenities at existing parks.

Once developed, the proposed plan will go to the Parks and Recreation Commission and City Council for approval.

This will be the city's first individual parks and recreation master plan. It has been part of the city's comprehensive plan in the past.
