Freshman leads Georgetown over Red Storm

Freshman Greg Whittington scored a career-high 12 points, and No. 12 Georgetown (19-5, 9-4 Big East) hit clutch 3-pointers down the stretch in a 71-61 win over St. John's (10-15, 4-9) on Sunday in Washington.

Whittington, Jason Clark and Markel Starks all hit 3s in the final 6 minutes to counter the Red Storm's momentum.

No. 22 Michigan 70, Illinois 61: At Ann Arbor, Mich., Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 15 points and Evan Smotrycz added 13 as Michigan (19-7, 9-4 Big Ten) slipped past the Illini (16-9, 5-7).

Brandon Paul had 21 points and Tyler Griffey added 18 for Illinois, which has lost six of seven.

Washington 75, Oregon State 72: At Corvallis, Ore., Terrence Ross had 21 points and 13 rebounds on Sunday to lead the Huskies (17-8, 10-3 Pac-12) past the Beavers (15-10, 5-8).

Jared Cunningham had 23 points and seven rebounds for Oregon State.

Stanford 59, Southern California 47: At Los Angeles, Chasson Randle made all four of his 3-point shots in the second half to finish with 16 points and Stanford (17-8, 7-6 Pac-12) beat USC (6-20, 1-12), completing its first season sweep of the Trojans since 2005.
