Another NIC VP is moving on

Sheldon Nord, North Idaho College's Vice President for Student Services, has been named president-elect of Corban University in Salem, Ore.

Nord joined NIC in 2010, replacing Eric Murray who resigned to accept a president's position at Cascadia Community College in Bothell, Wash.

Jay Lee, the college's Vice President of Instruction, announced his resignation Jan. 26. Lee is leaving NIC to accept a president's position at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo.

Corban University issued the following announcement this afternoon:

Salem, Ore. -The Board of Trustees of Corban University has named Sheldon Nord, Ph.D. as the tenth president of the University and successor to Dr. Reno Hoff.

Nord will begin on July 1, 2012 as president-elect. He will work closely with the current president for one year before assuming the presidency when Hoff officially retires July 1, 2013. Hoff has worked for Corban University for more than 40 years and as president since 2000. Terms for the succession process were announced Tuesday in a statement released by Board Chairman Tom Carlson.

Nord is a Corban University alumnus (1982). He served as Vice President of Admissions at Corban, 1990-93 and as a member of the Board of Trustees, 2001-2011. His career includes Advisor to the President at Universitas Pelita Harapan (Indonesia), 1994-95; Assistant Director of Admissions, Indiana University, 1995-96; Dean and Vice President for Student Affairs at Oregon Institute of Technology, 1997-2002; Dean and Vice President for Student Affairs, Weber State University (Utah), 2002-03; Vice President for Student Affairs, Eastern Oregon University, 2003-07; President, Universitas Pelita Harapan (Indonesia), 2007-10; and Vice President for Student Services, North Idaho College, 2010-present.

His education includes a B.S. in Social Science from Corban University; Ed.M. in College Student Services Administration from Oregon State University; Ph.D. in Higher Education at Indiana University; and post doctoral work at Harvard University's Institute for Higher Education.

Sheldon's family includes his wife, Jamie, and daughter, Hannah, who is a junior at Corban.
