PREP ROUNDUP: Ness helps Lake City rally past Moscow

| February 4, 2012 8:00 PM

* BOYS BASKETBALL

MOSCOW - Luke Ness hit four 3-pointers and scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half, and Lake City rallied from 13 points down in the third quarter to beat Moscow 51-48 on Friday night at Bear Den in a nonleague game.

Ness sank a 3 with 2 minutes left to give Lake City (10-7) the lead for good at 48-47.

"Luke's a clutch kid. We've been to Moscow a thousand times," longtime Lake City assistant coach Kelly Reed said, only seemingly slightly exaggerating, "and this is one of the best wins we've had down there. To have a young team, and watch them suck it up like that is encourging."

Justin Pratt had 11 points and Mitch Bevacqua had six rebounds for Lake City, which visits Lewiston in a game tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, but could be moved to avoid conflict with a 5A Region 1 girls basketball tournament game scheduled there that night.

Lane Brooks scored 12 points for Moscow (7-9).
