Dorothy A. Merrick, 75

| February 4, 2012 8:00 PM

Dorothy A. Merrick was welcomed home by her loving Lord on Jan. 31, 2012, after fighting severe complications due to open heart surgery. Dorothy was born June 23, 1936, in Fairfield, N.D., to Joseph and Dora Sivak.

She moved to Spokane in 1955 where she met and married Clinton F. Merrick. A couple years later relocated to Coeur d'Alene where she lived out her days.

She is survived by her three children, Gwendolyn Hecket of Athol, Clinton C. Merrick of Athol and Arlin Merrick of Oak Hill, Fla. Dorothy was blessed with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed the great outdoors and extended visits to the Oregon Coast. She had such a love for the ocean and its tranquility; it is her wishes to have her final resting place at the Oregon Coast. She dearly enjoyed her involvement and friendships over the years at the Lake City Senior Center playing endless hours of pinnacle and cribbage.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the North Idaho Advanced Care Hospital for all the compassion, support, an overall care that was provided. We would also like to thank the Hospice House of North Idaho for making Mom's final journey home as comfortable and peaceful as absolutely possible.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton F. Merrick.

No services will be held at her request. If you would like to make a donation please consider the above mentioned organizations at honi.org or to Myocarditisfoundation.org.
