BUS: Keep district behind the wheel

| December 8, 2012 8:00 PM

The recent article regarding the bus drivers and busing of our district’s students is a huge concern. Our superintendent stated the effects of possible cuts should be farthest from the classroom, well those cuts will be as close to the classroom as you could get considering those bus drivers know some of our children by name, treat them as if they were in their own family. Personally see they get into the school everyday.

Who will be responsible for drug test, background checks, maintenance of the buses? Nobody seems to be thinking of the health and safety of our students and children.

There are other areas to cut and drivers and the bus garage shouldn’t be anywhere near the top. The costs of that being a possibility now and down the road is too great.
