Coeur d'Alene Resort elected 'Best in the West'

The Coeur d'Alene Resort has been chosen as one of the favorite hotel properties of readers of Meetings Focus West magazine.

Top national meeting planners termed the facility "outstanding" among all properties in the Western U.S., Western Canada and Mexico, in the company's 2012 "Best of the West" award.

Readers rated the hotel based on the quality of meeting space, guest rooms, staff, service, dining amenities and activities.

"Competition was steep," said Karen Smith, vice president at San Francisco-based Meetings Focus West. "The Coeur d'Alene Resort was one of just 50 awarded in the western region."

The Resort has received the award for 14 years.

"The thing we hear, over and over again, from our meeting planners is how much they love having amenities of this level in such a beautiful natural setting," said Jason Jaeger, director of sales and marketing for The Coeur d'Alene Resort.

"We have something pretty special here."

Tim Kastning named 'True Professional of Arboriculture'

Tim Kastning, an ISA Certified Arborist and owner of Grace Tree Service in Hayden, has been named a "True Professional of Arboriculture" by the International Society of Arboriculture.

The True Professional recognition program honors arborists and tree care professionals for their positive impact on the industry in and around their communities. ISA President Colin Bashford paid tribute to Kastning at a ceremony in Portland, Ore., as part of the ISA Annual Conference and Trade Show, held Aug. 11-15.

"Being a True Professional is all about innovation and Tim is one of the arborists who make a difference," says Bashford. "Many gain inspiration from his ideas whether through his firewood charity program, recycling wood waste or ways to improve the health of the urban forest."

Kastning is a supporter of tree preservation and a local news columnist who promotes trees and quality tree care.

Among his other projects are designing and implementing forest restoration and fuel reduction strategies and helping private forest owners maintain small parcels of forested land for future generations to enjoy.

Kastning is one of five members in the 2012 Class of True Professionals.
