Coeur d'Alene Musical Festival begins today
COEUR d'ALENE - A four-day musical festival begins today at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds.
The inaugural Coeur d'Alene Musical Festival will feature 40 bands playing pop, rock, hip hop, folk music and more.
There will be activities for kids, overnight camping, food vendors, arts and crafts and a beer garden. Hours are 11 to 11 each day.
A four-day pass is $75, and daily pass is $25. Discounted passes are available at Java on Sherman and The Long Ear.
The Coeur d'Alene Musical Festival is organized by local musicians, who hope it turns out to be something like The Festival at Sandpoint.
Reception for outgoing PF administrator
POST FALLS - An informal thank you and farewell reception for outgoing Post Falls city administrator Eric Keck will be held today at City Hall, 408 N. Spokane St., from 4:30-6 p.m.
The public is invited. The reception will be in the first-floor conference room.
Keck, who has been the city administrator for the past six years, will be the chief operating officer for Post Falls-based Ground Force Worldwide, a mining equipment manufacturer.
Shelly Enderud, the city's finance director, was named the interim city administrator last week.
Lake City Playhouse to spotlight shows
COEUR d'ALENE -
The new season of shows at the Lake City Playhouse will be spotlighted during a special preview on Saturday.
Guests can enjoy favorite songs from upcoming musicals at the Playhouse, which includes "Oklahoma!," "The Little Drummer Boy," "Sweeney Todd," and "Into the Woods.
There will be beverages, hors d'oeuvres, a cake auction and raffle for season tickets.
Ticket are $15.
Doors open at 6:30 and the show begins at 7:30
Proceeds will go toward a new air conditioning system.
Coeur d'Alene Homes to hold watercolor event
COEUR d'ALENE - Coeur d'Alene Homes is partnering with The Watercolorists of the Inland Northwest for a fundraiser in the Serenity Garden at Coeur d'Alene Homes.
The watercolor event will take place Thursday, Sept. 6, from 3-6 p.m.
Guests are invited to enjoy local masterpieces while taking a leisurely stroll through the beautiful garden. Refreshments and wine will be available, as well as music.
The Watercolorists of the Inland Northwest will donate half of the proceeds from their art sales at the event to benefit charitable care at Coeur d'Alene Homes.
The event will kick-off National Assisted Living Week celebrating "Art for the Ages."
