A True Artist

Corinne was born in Ames, Iowa, to Frank and Rosa Harrington on Jan. 10, 1920.

She attended Gallatin High School (1937) and Montana State University (1939). She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity and graduated from Oregon State University (1941) in Home Economics. Later she attended Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md., earning a Master of Science and becoming a Registered Dietitian in 1942. She also worked at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, Calif. In 1943 she became a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army, 122nd, and was stationed at General Hospital in Paisley, Scotland.

Connie married LeRoy Cox in 1944 and they lived in Toledo, Wash., where he was a pharmacist and she raised four children: Roger Cox, Kimberly Green, Jeff Cox and Laurie Green. She had eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In the ‘70s, Connie became an Elementary School Teacher in Chehalis, Wash., where she taught fourth grade and kindergarten. She and LeRoy retired in 1983 and moved to Airstream Park in Lacey, Wash. They were adventurous, traveling throughout Canada, Mexico and the U.S.

After LeRoy died in 2001, Connie moved to the Coeur d’Alene area, finally settling at Garden Plaza in Post Falls. She loved her life and friends: especially Bingo, Bridge and crafts. She was always active in her community: Lions Club, Girl Scout Leader, Literacy Foundation, Food Safety Advisor, Guardian Ad Litem and Thurston County Fair Baking Superintendent. She was a gifted artist, creating beautiful watercolor landscapes. She was also an accomplished seamstress and quilter. Connie knitted sweaters, scarves and hats for children. She loved flowers and gardening, and had a green thumb. Her feisty attitude will be missed.

English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, has been entrusted to handle final arrangements. Please visit Connie’s online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
