A Coeur d'Alene woman reported the theft of $11,700 worth of jewelry on Sunday.

The woman told police she locked the front door of her second-level apartment on the 400 block of West Stonington Court when she left about 9:30 a.m. When she returned about 6:15 p.m., the door was still locked and she didn't notice anything, "except for a different, perfume type smell, which she discarded at the time," a police report said.

An hour later, she went into her bedroom and found jewelry missing from the top dresser drawer.

Reported taken were a gold and diamond necklace valued at $10,000, three solid gold bracelets valued at $300 each, a pair of Italian Florence style gold earrings valued at $400, a pair of Thailand style earrings valued at $300 and a gold ring, size 6-7 with a dolphin, valued at $100.

Police said entry to the apartment appeared to have been made through the balcony slider door, which was unlocked, but shut.
