Valdespina's pitching paces Indians

SPOKANE - Spokane starting pitcher Jose Valdespina struck out 10 and gave up one hit over six scoreless innings to lead the Indians past the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (14-16) 3-0 in Northwest League baseball action Thursday night in front of 4,673 at Avista Stadium.
The Indians took a 2-0 lead in the first inning after an RBI triple from Patrick Cantwell and RBI single from Ryan Rua. Preston Beck added a run-scoring single in the seventh.
Spokane's Royce Bolinger, a former Gonzaga standout, went 0 for 4 and saw his 23-game hitting streak come to an end.
Alec Asher struck out two in a hitless ninth to earn his fourth save of the season for the Indians (13-17).
