THEATER: An event for the ages

| August 24, 2012 9:00 PM

Those people fortunate enough to score tickets to the sold out Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre’s staged reading of “Over the River and Through the Woods” were treated to an amazing and unforgettable evening of entertainment. Over and over the comments “best thing I’ve ever seen,” “phenomenal,” and “fantastic” were heard.

We on the Board of CST want to thank our wonderful stars who made this possible: Academy Award-winning actress Patty Duke, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Dennis Franz, veteran television, film and stage actors (and real life couple) Ellen Travolta and Jack Bannon, and regional stage stars Dane Stokinger and Jessica Skerritt (also a real life couple).

Under the direction of Roger Welch, the hysterically funny yet deeply poignant play brought tears of laughter and tears of empathy to the entire audience. I wish everyone could have seen this performance. We don’t always appreciate the generosity and caliber of talent we have in our midst. And thank you Pita Pit for sponsoring this unbelievable evening. It will be talked about for a long time.
