PREP ROUNDUP: Tigers' Jansson scores 6 goals

PRIEST RIVER - Ida Jansson recorded a hat trick just past the seven-minute mark of the first half, and followed it up by scoring three more goals to help give Timberlake a 9-1 Intermountain League win over Priest River on Thursday night.
The senior exchange student from Sweden said she had scored six goals in a game in the past and laughed about scoring seven goals in her next contest for the Tigers (2-1-0, 2-0-0 IML).
"It was really about everyone playing as a team. I couldn't have scored that many times if my teammates weren't helping and setting me up," Jansson said.
Somehow taking a back seat, teammate April Sutton scored a hat trick of her own for Timberlake (2-1-0, 2-0-0 IML), which travels to Bonners Ferry on Tuesday.
A second straight game was delayed for a brief period in the second half after a buck ran onto the field and refused to leave. The 3x3 yearling is believed to be a pet of the family of a Priest River player who lives miles from the high school and across the river.
Elisa Williams knocked in a goal from near midfield at the 55-minute mark for the Spartans (0-2-0, 0-1-0 IML), who travel to Kellogg next Thursday.

COEUR d'ALENE - Junior Lexi Smith, who was moved back to center back from defensive center midfielder, assisted on all four goals for the Trojans in the 5A Inland Empire League game.
"She's really comfortable there," Post Falls coach Briggs Anderson said. "She's really good at reading the game and finding the open player."
Kelcie Hedge scored twice for Post Falls (3-0, 2-0 5A IEL), which plays host to Lakeland on Saturday.
It was the season opener for Coeur d'Alene, which travels to Moscow next Tuesday.
"It's their first game and our third, so they're working out all the cobwebs," Anderson said of the Vikings.
