Volcanoes blank Indians in series opener

SPOKANE - Mac Williamson hit a two-run homer with two out in the ninth inning as the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes beat the Spokane Indians 3-0 in Northwest League baseball Wednesday night in front of 3,406 at Avista Stadium.

Charles Jones doubled to left field to score Rafael Rodriguez in the fifth inning to open the scoring for Salem-Keizer (14-15), which was held to four hits in the win.

Former Gonzaga standout Royce Bolinger singled in the bottom of the first inning, extending his hitting streak to 23 games for Spokane (12-17).

C.J. Edwards struck out nine over six innings for Spokane to take the loss.

Spokane went 0 for 4 with runners in scoring position and left six on base.

The teams continue their five-game series tonight at 6:30 at Avista Stadium.
