Eastern football ranked
15th entering season
CHENEY - With one final scrimmage looming, the Eastern Washington football team will enter the season ranked 15th in the NCAA Football Subdivision in the FCS Coaches Poll.
Eastern will scrimmage today at 12:40 p.m. at Roos Field and is free and open to the public.
Eastern opens the season next Thursday at Idaho, followed by a game at Washington State on Sept. 8.
Eastern is behind Big Sky Conference rivals Montana State (4th) and Montana (10th). North Dakota State, last year's champion, is ranked first. Eastern was selected 12th in The Sports Network Top 25 poll, selected by a national panel of sportswriters, broadcasters and sports information directors.

Pitch for the Cure
SPOKANE - The Spokane Indians annual Pitch for the Cure Breast Cancer Walk will be held on Saturday at Avista Stadium.
It is the seventh consecutive year that the Indians and Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation have collaborated on the event, with proceeds benefiting the Eastern Washington Chapter of the Komen Foundation.
Check-in is at 5:30 p.m., with the walk set to start at 6. The one-mile, flat walk circles around Avista Stadium before finishing on the field, where participants will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony.
Spokane players will wear special pink jerseys against Salem-Keizer, which will be auctioned off to support the cause.
Cost is $30 for adults and $20 for kids 12 and under. Participants receive a t-shirt, donation in their name to the Eastern Washington affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and a ticket for that night's game.
Participants can pick up their packets on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Avista Stadium, or the day of the walk starting at 5 p.m. at Avista Stadium.

Lewis-Clark State men's team
gets No. 2 ranking in poll
LEWISTON - The Lewis-Clark State College men's cross country team was ranked a program-best No. 2 in the NAIA Cross Country Coaches' Top 25 preseason poll.
The Warrior women were ranked eighth, and continue to lead the nation in most consecutive poll appearances.
Sophomore Jacob Wimpenny of Post Falls High and junior Nick Pierson of Coeur d'Alene are among the men's competitors for Lewis-Clark State.
The LCSC men received three of 18 first-place votes and garnered 475 points overall. Southern Oregon had eight first-place votes and 486 points to earn the top ranking.
