COEUR d'ALENE - Panhandle Health District and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality lifted a health advisory Wednesday for Hayden Lake.
The advisory had been issued last week due to the presence of high concentrations of blue-green algae, but DEQ officials monitoring Hayden Lake said the blue-green algae is no longer a concern. Hayden Lake is safe again for fishing, swimming and domestic water supply use with the appropriate water treatment technology, the departments said.
High concentrations of blue-green algae can produce toxins harmful to humans and animals. The concentration of blue-green algae in Hayden Lake is no longer a concern for the presence of harmful toxins.
