PRIEST RIVER - Megen Daniels scored two goals in the second half as the Coeur d'Alene Charter Panthers beat the Priest River Spartans 2-1 on Tuesday night at Priest River High in the Panthers' inaugural game as a girls soccer program.

"They were a little nervous at first, it being the first match," Coeur d'Alene Charter coach David Baxter said. "Once they settled down, we were able to hold the possession a little bit and started attacking the goal."

In the second half, the game was delayed 10 minutes after a buck ran onto the field and refused to leave.

"Some of the players were chasing it, but it didn't want to leave," Baxter said. "Finally a player (Angel Clark of Priest River) walked up to it and coaxed it off the field."

Heidi Skinner scored an unassisted goal for Sandpoint in the 18th minute.

"I thought Sandpoint was composed and ready to play the first half and had the run of play," Ruchti said. "We made some adjustments in the second half."
