Top pick Gallo hits 2 HRs, drives in 7 for Indians
SPOKANE - Joey Gallo, the Texas' Rangers' first-round pick in the June draft, hit two home runs and drove in seven runs as the Spokane Indians routed the Tri-City Dust Devils 16-4 in Northwest League baseball Sunday night before 4,169 at Avista Stadium.
Gallo, who was assigned to the Indians just last week, hit a solo homer to right field in the fifth inning, added a two-run single in the sixth, and hit a grand slam to highlight a seven-run eighth inning.
Royce Bollinger went 3 for 5 with three runs and three RBIs, extending his hitting streak to 20 games.
Christopher Garia went 4 for 5 with four runs, and Gabriel Roa was 2 for 5 and scored three times.
Connor Sadzeck (1-3) pitched six innings of one-hit ball for Spokane (11-15 second half), striking four and walking four. Tri-City is 9-17.
The three-game series continues tonight at 6:30.
