POST FALLS - Nathan White had two goals and two assists and Timmy Mueller had three goals as the Post Falls Trojans beat the Lewiston Bengals 11-0 on Saturday in the season and 5A Inland Empire League opener for both schools.

"They're a pretty young team and playing against nine seniors," Post Falls coach Gabe Lawson said. "It was just one of those games. We moved the ball well and started strong."

SANDPOINT - Gunnar Skindlov and Braden Ridgewell each tallied a goal and an assist, leading the Vikings past the Bulldogs in nonleague season opening boys soccer action at Pine St. Field.

The Vikings went up 2-0 just 12 minutes into the nonleague friendly, enough cushion to claim the win in the first of three meetings this season between the teams, before Graison Le added a final insurance goal in the second half.

"I liked how our team responded in the second half," said Vikings coach Jeff Lake, happy that his team didn't rest on its laurels after an early lead. "We have a bunch of new guys, and it was good to see them come together and play well as a team."

Joab Logan scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs, who could never seem to find much of a rhythm.

"It was a disappointing result to start the season," Sandpoint coach Adam Tajan said. "However, it did give us an opportunity to recognize how much work we still need and how we can improve."

On Tuesday, Coeur d'Alene hosts Lakeland, and Sandpoint is home vs. Lake City.
