Fundraiser to benefit Fanconi Anemia Research Fund

| August 18, 2012 9:00 PM

Folks can enjoy live music and family-friendly activities this weekend while helping find a cure for Fanconi anemia.

A fundraiser is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Riverstone Park Amphitheater in Coeur d'Alene, to benefit the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund.

The event will include live entertainment, a silent auction, a raffle, face painting and a photo booth.

The fundraiser has a target of raising $50,000 for FARF, which is dedicated to finding effective treatments and a cure for Fanconi anemia. The organization also provides education and support services for affected families around the world.

Fanconi anemia is a rare, inherited blood disorder that leads to bone marrow failure. Affected individuals are more likely to develop a variety of cancers at a young age.

Sunday's event is in honor of Scott Dorman, a Coeur d'Alene man who died at 22 from head and neck cancer in 2010, a result of having Fanconi anemia.
