Cd'A school district seeks long range plan committee members

| August 17, 2012 9:00 PM

Members of the Coeur d'Alene School District's Long Range Planning Committee are seeking candidates interested in serving on the panel.

Eight positions are opening up, including those filled by representatives from Atlas Elementary, Hayden Kinder Center and several members from at-large within the district. In addition, there is no representation from Dalton Elementary or Lakes Magnet Middle School on the committee at this time.

Candidates must file applications for consideration no later than Sept. 14, and if selected, will likely be appointed to the committee by the school board sometime in October.

Applications are available on the school district website, www.cdaschools.org, or at the school district office, 311 N. 10th St., Coeur d'Alene.

The Long Range Planning Committee is tasked by the school district's board of trustees with reviewing the district's long range plan for programs and facilities; and with making recommendations to the board for updating or modifying the district's 10-year plan in response to new student demographic data and educational trends.

This year the committee recommended, and the board approved, a $32.7 million bond that, if approved by voters, will be used to remodel five aging school buildings, and add HVAC systems and technology infrastructure upgrades to several facilities.

The committee is made up of up to 28 members and three alternates.

Meetings are usually held the fourth Monday of each month during the school year at 4:30 p.m.
