Horseshoe club hosts tourney

The Kootenai County Horseshoe Pitchers Association held its 2012 Inland Empire Classic horseshoe tournament at Coeur d'Alene's Winton Park on Saturday.

Thirty-six competitors were in five classes, filling all 16 of the park's pits.

Winners in each class: (A) Kay Keskinen, Moscow, (B) Glen Wessel, Cd'A, (C) Chet Ness, Cd'A, (D) David Ness,Cd'A, (E) Chris Worth, Spokane.

Volunteers from the association in conjunction with Coeur d'Alene's parks department recently refurbished the pits over the course of the summer.

Glen Wessel, association president, encouraged any members of the public interested in pitching horseshoes to come and enjoy the pits any time.

The association plays every Thursday evening from April through September providing the weather is accommodating.
