Many people do not understand the purpose of chiropractic and how it can benefit even the youngest of patients. That's right; kids derive great benefit from chiropractic for the same reasons that adults see such amazing changes in their health!

Chiropractic helps restore nervous system function by locating and eliminating subluxations in your spine. A subluxation happens when one of your 24 spinal bones move out of place due to physical, chemical, or emotional stress. As you may already know, your spinal bones house the spinal cord. Your spinal cord is the communications bridge from your brain to every organ, tissue, and cell in your body.

A subluxation is a serious issue that results in pressure being placed on the nerves that travel between the spinal bones. This may change the tone and function of the nervous system which is the master controller of your body. It may not be painful or even noticeable, but it can create long term health problems by reducing the brain's ability to communicate with the rest of the body efficiently.

You cannot live if your brain cannot transmit messages to your body through the nervous system. What happens, however, when restrictions from a subluxation serve to decrease the function of this system?

The answer to that question is the basis of chiropractic. As we know, subluxations can lead to a laundry list of health problems. Your body needs to be able to communicate with your brain in order to function properly. Subluxations can occur at any age and for a wide variety of reasons. Without being analyzed and adjusted by a chiropractor, these subluxations can create larger health issues.

For this reason, it is important that subluxations are eliminated before they have a chance to do damage. We all have a spine, and these problems can begin from birth with the birthing process itself creating a huge amount of stress on a newborn's body. While children are generally more resilient than adults, they are not resistant to subluxations. Eliminating subluxations in the spine will serve to stop potential problems before they start.

Most adults seek chiropractic care only after a problem becomes noticeable. At that point in time, irreversible damage may already have occurred. For that reason, it makes sense to eliminate subluxations immediately, starting from birth. In order to make sure your child is developing and functioning optimally, don't wait to have their spine checked.
