Remodeling
Transformation starts small. Sometimes it is just with a thought that comes to you while you are in a meeting or in the middle of the night. It grabs your attention and it makes you wonder. What would happen if I remodel my house, my office or my life?
Remodeling happens in all avenues of our lives, whether it is in our home, business or our personal life. Without remodeling are lives become stagnant and we forget the passions that once motivated us everyday. Remodeling creates possibilities and with that comes opportunities for a better you.
Our physical health is often overlooked when we are remodeling. The same thing we did that took care of us when we were 20 doesn't work near as well now that we are over 40. So it's time to take inventory and make some changes. So what do you need to remodel? How are you taking care of your heart and lungs, your muscles and your joints everyday? If you are not sure, than you need to know because your body is one of your most important assets.
So the first thing to do is to ask yourself if you covering all three aspects of your physical health with your workout routine. Do you stretch daily? Do you strength train at least three times a week? Do you do at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise everyday? Look at your program, does it have all these parts covered. Then make a plan. Then pick a partner, someone who you can be honest with and they will be your support system in this endeavor. What you then do is tell them what your goal is and you set a plan. Then you simply email or text them everyday a simple "I did it" or "no deal" before bedtime each night. Sounds silly, but you would be surprised at how many people actually have better follow through when they have a partner. There is something in our nature that helps us to stay on task when we have another person who is counting on us. Next carve out "your" time frame. This is probably the most challenging part of this process. Remember it is the time that works best for you. Not your spouse, kids, family, etc. For you and you alone. Don't worry you are not being selfish. If fact it is the best thing you can do for the people you love. When you take care of your physical health everyone reaps the benefits.
As you begin your new program, focus on the remodeling that is taking place. It will take you at least a month to get your rhythm going in the program. Never quit if you have a bad day, or a bad week. Just keep moving forward. You will be amazed your body and your mind will crave it everyday. It will become part of who you are. You will love the new remodeled you.
