COUNTY: How to pay for manager

Is adding a county administrator a good idea or bad idea? If our Kootenai County Commissioners feel that they cannot do the work they need to do for $70,000/year, then I see two options:

(1) Go ahead and hire a county administrator, but pay for this new position from the salaries of the commissioners who feel they cannot do all the work that needs to be done.

(2) Give up the job and elect people who can do the job. We do NOT need to add another government employee and spend more money in these tough economic times.

If our three commissioners want to add the county administrator, divide the $210,000 they make by four instead of three. The commissioners get their added government employee, and we the people don’t have to spend more money.
