ANNIVERSARIES
Homer and Cora Johnson
60th Anniversary
Homer and Cora celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 9, 2012. They were married Aug. 9, 1952, in Tulsa, Okla.
They spent 25 years working in Venezuela, South America: Homer in the oil industry and Cora as school teacher. Homer and Cora retired to Whitefish, Mont., in 1988 after Homer worked as an engineer consultant in Wyoming, Oklahoma, Denver and Bakio, Spain. They relocated to Coeur d'Alene in 2011.
They have two children, Victor Johnson of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Ellen Bogenschutz of Coeur d'Alene. They have four grandsons
David and Mary Ballard
25th Anniversary
David and Mary Ballard celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a party on July 21, 2012, in Coeur d'Alene hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Chris Hale. Family members Florence Herby, Peggy and Mike Sawicki, Diane Harbour and Janelle Davies were co-hosts.
David and Mary were married July 18, 1987, in Coeur d'Alene. They have lived in Coeur d'Alene their entire married lives except for 15 months spent RV-ing around the country in 2006 and 2007.
The Ballards have three daughters, Jennifer Waters of Spokane Valley, Sherry Baker of Russellville, Ark., and Molly Hale of Portland, Ore. Grandsons are Jacob and Janson Waters, and Wade Baker.
David is retired from Tapley Cabinets in Coeur d'Alene. Mary recently retired from Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. Camping, cruises and travel are the favorite things the Ballards enjoy doing, besides spending time with family. The couple will take a delayed anniversary trip to the Oregon Coast in September.

Liam Eugene Anderson was born April 25, 2012, to Wesley and Elizabeth Anderson of Coeur d'Alene at Kootenai Medical Center. He weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. Sister is Emmily Rae Anderson, 2. Maternal grandparents are Keith and Connie Millard of Priest River. Paternal grandparents are Robert and Margie Anderson of Sagle.
Brody Ray Myers was born at 11:12 p.m. May 17, 2012, to Kayla and Jesse Myers. He weighed 6 lbs. 13 oz. and was 19.5 inches long. Brother is Brett Myers. Maternal grandparents are Cheryl Dassow and Chuck Bengry. Paternal grandparents are Jandene and Mike Myers.
Summer Snow Adams was born at 7:39 a.m. July 30, 2012, to Michell Snow Blankenship and Jacob Allen Adams at Kootenai Medical Center. She weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and was 20 inches long. Grandparents are Craig Adams and Michelle Bushared. Great-grandparents are Margie Adams and Chuck Adams.
Emma Isabelle Sabin was born at 4:39 p.m. July 31, 2012, to Kristina Sabin and David Park of Coeur d'Alene. She weighed 6 lbs. 2 oz. and 19.5 inches long. Maternal grandparents are David Sabin and Caren Carey. Paternal grandparents are Curtis Park and May Haux.
MILITARY
Army Staff Sgt. Seth J. Alderman has returned to the U.S. after being deployed overseas at a forward operating base to serve in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Alderman is a squad leader with the 164th Military Police Company based at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. He has served 12 years in the military.
He is the brother of Nathan T. Alderman of Coeur d'Alene. His wife, Kelli, is the daughter of Bob and Pam Gregg of Dalton Gardens.
The staff sergeant is a 1998 graduate of Coeur d'Alene High School.
OS3 (SW) Kia N. Hassler recently passed and made the spring 2012 list of Petty Officer 3rd Class (rank E4) as an Operation Specialist.
Promotion to Petty Officer Third Class is a shift in roles, from one who has been led, to one who must now lead. It is an assumption of higher responsibility, authority and accountability.
Kia, based in San Diego, Calif., has been in the Navy since February 2010.
