THEFT: Check all the backgrounds

| August 10, 2012 9:00 PM

In one of my recent communications to you we offered comments concerning “discrepancies” in the preliminary ballot counts. Now we read in the morning paper of Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, two lead articles on the front page related to money “discrepancies,” except that instead of a “couple of ballots” the taxpayers are being hit for thousands of dollars (with no mention of interest, at whatever rate).

In a separate non-related communication at another time we commented upon the federally mandated “HEALTH AND WELFARE” background checks for applicants choosing to enter into the health-care industry, which has proven to be a “blackball” for certain individuals choosing to regain their social and financial standing in their communities.

It would seem to me that individuals choosing to enter into, or even who wish to remain in, a public fiduciary responsible capacity of employment, or even as a volunteer, should be subject to the same rigors of background checks as those of the health-care industry. Too bad!
