Wolf Rally & Memorial slated for Aug. 30 in Cd'A

| August 9, 2012 9:15 PM

The Northern Idaho Wolf Alliance is joining with Friends of the Clearwater and Predator Defense to hold a Wolf Rally & Memorial on Thursday, Aug. 30 at Coeur d'Alene City Park from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The theme of our event will be "Wolves Belong."

There will be speakers, music and "some kind of memorial service for the wolves killed in the 2011-12 hunt." A display depicting the number, at least 379, of wolves killed in the last hunt will also be set up. Anti-trapping group Footloose Montana has offered to hold a trapping release workshop on site.

The new hunt started on July 1 on private land, and the public hunt will start again on the day of the event, Aug. 30.

"We want to shed light on not only the brutality of the hunt, but why we believe it is wrong to hold the hunt at all," wrote organizer Ann Sydow. "With this new hunt, we will get down to our last few hundred wolves, or even less."
