The highest North Idaho finisher in the Washington State Walleye Championship was Ken Loper of Post Falls, who teamed with John Carruth of Davenport, Wash., for 16th place.
They caught just 5.1 pounds of fish on day one of the tourney on July 28 and 29, but roared back with 11.86 pounds on Sunday.
They took home a check, since they had the third-largest bag of fish on day two on Lake Roosevelt out of Kettle Falls.
The team of Brian Coe from Loon Lake, Wash., and Todd Priddy of Deer Park, Wash., took home first place out of 52 teams vying for the $8,500 purse offered by Mark's Marine in Coeur d'Alene and Lund Boats along with some gift certificates from Cabela's.
