JUNKET: They owe the taxpayers

| August 8, 2012 9:15 PM

According to Betsy Z. Russell’s recent report on Idaho politics we have some shady doings.

House Speaker Lawerence Denney approved — at taxpayer expense — the costs for Vito Barbieri, R-Dalton Gardens, and Phil Hart, R-Athol, to attend the recent ALEC conference in Salt Lake City.

First, Phil Hart was voted out of office. He has objections to paying his taxes and yet he was allowed to attend using the tax monies others have paid.

Second, ALEC is a very, very conservative group that is busy writing many of the bills so loved by the far right, such as the ultrasound bill that several states have adopted. Type in “ALEC exposed” for an Internet search.

Representatives Barbieri and Hart need to pay the taxpayers back. The Republican Party can pay their way as the agenda at ALEC conferences are Republican based.
