VILLAGE: Impact big in the region

| August 5, 2012 9:00 PM

Twin Lakes Village is home to some 325 families — a small community which over the years has demonstrated it’s a good neighbor. Residents of the Village not only take care of their own in time of need, but also have donated thousands of hours and dollars to organizations and individuals throughout Kootenai County.

Most efforts are organized through TLV Homeowners Association. Included is the scholarship program for high school graduates, North Idaho Hospice, and support of many charities including the Kootenai Electric Foundation golf classic.

In addition, residents volunteer on their own, making financial and volunteer commitments to numerous organizations.

Most of these efforts go unrecognized. But the recent public announcement that a small group of TLV residents donated thousands of dollars to keep the Post Falls homeless shelters open in winter deserves recognition. Alone it demonstrates that Village residents are willing to do whatever they can. And, when taken in total with TLV’s many, many other charitable efforts — both TLV Association and individual projects — it shows the Village’s commitment to its fellow man.

For a village of just 300-plus families, Twin Lakes has become a good neighbor to many organizations and individuals throughout the Coeur d’Alene area.
