TAXES: No time to raise them
Tuesday’s Press article “Cd’A may seek 3% tax hike” should not have surprised anyone. Now the City Council indicated that they would be “more comfortable” asking for a 2 percent increase. Well that gave me a warm feeling about our City Council! They care!
Speaking only for myself, I would be “more comfortable” if you did not increase taxes at all. When are governmental agencies going to realize that you don’t raise taxes when times are tough?
There is also that little thing out there called “McEuen Field” that to many seems to be an unnecessary expenditure at this time. Most of us are smart enough to understand that taxpayers’ money will be used no matter where you tell us it is coming from. Maybe if you put this on hold for awhile you would not need to raise our taxes. You know you can’t always have everything you want right now. And really, $65,000 for a PR person? Whose brilliant idea was that?
To Councilman Kennedy, you keep up your class act. Councilman Adams volunteers to cut his pay to save money and you ridicule him! I appreciate your offer Councilman Adams! Thank you!
So now ahead of the taxpaying citizens of Coeur d’Alene we have a potential tax increase from the city plus the School District bond coming up. At least we get to vote on the bond.
