BOND: Make it work for Winton
As parents of former and current Winton students, we are asking for a yes vote on Aug. 28 for the Coeur d’Alene School District bond. Winton is in desperate need of remodeling/rebuilding. Built in 1928, it has seen many students walk through her halls. She is tired and in need of a face lift.
There are numerous safety and health issues that need to be addressed. By the end of the 2012 school year, there was one portable that could not be taught in because of an unidentifiable odor. There is no air conditioning and the heating system is inadequate. The gym is too small and cannot accommodate the school and does not satisfy the ADA. The list goes on and on.
When it comes down to it, Winton has excellent teachers and staff who could prevail through any type of conditions. However, health and safety must come first. Now is the time. Please vote yes for Winton and all of the other schools in the Coeur d’Alene School District. We are asking this whether your children have long been out of school or have yet to start.
