Dobson Pass repairs to start
Construction to repair Dobson Pass Road will begin at 7 a.m. Wednesday and will leave sections of the frontage road totally closed for the duration of the construction.
Dobson Pass Road will be under a "total closure" at the junctions of Goose Hump Road and USFS Road 424 at milepost 10 and travelling northwest on Dobson Pass to Carbon Center Road at milepost 7.
Shoshone County Public Works Director John Thomas said the department hopes to have closed roads back open within a two to three week period.
"We might get a surprise we aren't expecting," Thomas said. "If there is something unexpected it could turn into five or six weeks."
Dobson Pass Road was closed in April after a massive fault collapsed nearly 300 feet near the top of the road, but funding issues delayed construction to completely repair the road, leaving it stable but still heavily damaged.
