James Edward Boyer, 60

| August 3, 2012 9:00 PM

Jimmy passed away on July 28th in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was born November 15, 1951 also in Coeur d'Alene to Roy and Francis Boyer. A life-long resident of the area, he graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1970 and worked at several local businesses with familiar names including Rosauer's, YJ Meats, General Telephone, and Transtector Industries.

As a youth he grew up hunting and fishing, and his love for sport drew him to the baseball diamond where he played Legion baseball and later with several local men's softball teams. After his playing days he switched to the blue uniform where he became affiliated with the Panhandle Umpire Association and then with the Coeur d'Alene Umpire Association where he worked national and state slow pitch and fast pitch softball tournaments; at times working the championship game.

Jimmy also became a devout member of the St Luke's Episcopal Church where he became a Lay reader as well as a Eucharistic Visitor giving communion to those unable to attend church services.

With his passing, he leaves a saddened group of core friends from his high school days, his immediate family including his son, Justin D. Boyer and his family from Mead, Wash., two brothers, Dave and Bill, who live in the area, his father Roy of Post Falls, grandchildren, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces, his friends at St. Luke's, and his "family" from the CDA Umpire Association.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 1 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at Fifth and Wallace in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. We ask that any contributions also be sent to St Luke's at 501 Wallace Ave., Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, 83814.
