Police seek suspected mail thieves

Coeur d’Alene Police are looking for Michael Graham Wilkins, 28, of Coeur d’Alene, for his involvement in stealing checks out of mailboxes, forging his name on them and then cashing them. Wilkins is believed to be in the company of Lacey Lynn Fugate, 17, who is currently wanted for being a runaway from Douglas County, Oregon.

Wilkins and Fugate are suspected of stealing two checks from the mail boxes in the 100 block of E. Locust on or about July 28, 2012. Wilkins is believed to be responsible for adding his name to the checks and cashing them at a local Safeway store. An employee of the Safeway store indicated that Wilkins comes in to the store several times a day to cash checks.

Detectives are in the process of obtaining an arrest warrant for Wilkins. If anyone has information on the location of Wilkins or Fugate please contact the Coeur d’Alene Police Department at 769-2320.

Citizens are reminded to retrieve their mail from their mailboxes as soon as possible after delivery.
