DOGS: Poop spoils pretty park

| August 1, 2012 9:15 PM

We went to Johnson Mill River Park recently and found it to be full of dog feces on the grass and down on the sand area by the water. This is not a small problem, but a huge problem. You cannot walk anywhere without encountering dog feces.

Evidently, the city, which spent money for the park, does not care about maintaining it. It is a disgrace, and looks as if it has been going on for some time.

Parents mainly use this park with small children, and they tell us the problem has been worsening each year. The city that is about to spend all this money on McEuen Park cannot maintain the parks they already have. Anyone can see this is a serious problem. This can be remedied by big “no dog” signs and fines for not obeying. Somebody could be there to monitor at night or in the morning until the problem goes away. Otherwise this is a useless park for most of us. It is a shame, as this is such a beautiful park.
